Dr. Michael Carvalho is currently Assistant Dean of Interprofessional Education Programs and Clinical Affairs and Professor of Pharmacy Practice at MCPHS School of Pharmacy-Boston and formerly Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Board Certified in Psychopharmacy, Dr. Carvalho was an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Dartmouth Medical School in New Hampshire for 20 years. He also had teaching appointments at the University of New England, Saint Anselm College, and Northeastern University. He is the Chief Co-Editor of Zeind, CS, Carvalho, MG. Background: The opioid crisis requires coordinated effort from health professions educators to provide students from all disciplines with the tools and skills to recognize potential opioid abuse and to effectively mitigate risks associated with controlled substances.
