Dr. Beard is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and the University of Missouri-Columbia Family and Community Medicine Residency Program. He has practiced clinical medicine and educated students since 2006. He practices as a board-certified family medicine physician with Sanford Health Systems in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dr. Beard has earned multiple awards including AOA induction, Arnold Gold Humanism in Medicine Award, and multiple teaching and curriculum awards from the Universities of Missouri and South Dakota. He enjoys working with simulation as it relates to teaching bedside skills, interprofessional communication, and clinical examination skills.

Background: Medical schools are beginning to implement courses in Interprofessional Education (IPE) to prepare students for the interprofessional team-based patient care model which is becoming a standard of practice in many healthcare facilities.
