Kimberly Kascak is an Instructor in the Office of Interprofessional Initiatives at the Medical University of South Carolina. Ms. Kascak is a co-founder of Pattison’s Academy, a non-profit public charter school specializing in children with severe disabilities. She is an author of the developing Pediatric Awareness and Sensory Motor Assessment. She focuses on academic innovation, online instructional design and interprofessional education. She directs interprofessional courses required by first year students at the Medical University of South Carolina to teach concepts related to interprofessional education and teamwork.

2:00 pm, September 4, 2013. A conversation with an interprofessional (IP) health care team provided a wake-up call to the Office of Interprofessional Initiatives at the Medical University of South Carolina. While our students entered practice settings well-prepared in their content knowledge and skills, they lacked skills in working in an IP team, reflecting the fact that there was no continuum of learning shared between the hospital and the university.
