Jeannine M. Conway, Pharm D, BCPS is the Assocaiate Dean of Professional Education and Associate Professor in the department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota. She provides medication management services in the interprofessional comprehensive facial pain clinic at the University of Minnesota. She received her BS in pharmacy and PharmD from the University of Minnesota and completed a fellowship in neuropharmacology. Her interests include anticonvulsant pharmacokinetics and educating future pharmacists and neurologists how to best optimize pharmacotherapy.

In efforts to address the problem of diagnostic error, the education of healthcare professionals is being re-envisioned. The landmark report from the National Academy of Medicine on Improving Diagnosis in Healthcare made two major suggestions: Improve education around diagnosis, and improve teamwork in the diagnostic process. In a project supported by the Macy Foundation, we have recently identified a set of 12 competencies that tie these two recommendations together, and if acquired, would promote diagnostic quality and safety.
