Holly H. Wise, PT, PhD, FNAP is a professor, Division of Physical Therapy and Associate Director for Faculty Development, Office of Interprofessional Initiatives, at the Medical University of South Carolina. She currently serves as the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy Alternate Representative to the Global Forum (National Academies of Sciences) and the Interprofessional Education Collaborative. She has worked in settings ranging from acute care to rehabilitation centers, co-owned a private practice for 13 years, and co-founded two interprofessional post-polio evaluation clinics. She has multiple publications and presentations related to the scholarship of teaching with a focus on IPE/collaborative practice.

2:00 pm, September 4, 2013. A conversation with an interprofessional (IP) health care team provided a wake-up call to the Office of Interprofessional Initiatives at the Medical University of South Carolina. While our students entered practice settings well-prepared in their content knowledge and skills, they lacked skills in working in an IP team, reflecting the fact that there was no continuum of learning shared between the hospital and the university.
