Gary L. Beck Dallaghan, Ph.D., is the director of educational scholarship and research associate professor of pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill since July of 2018. In this new role, Dr. Beck Dallaghan conducts educational research for the School of Medicine, working with faculty and students on a variety of projects. He has extensive experience with interprofessional education research from his days at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. Upon relocating to North Carolina, he has continued to work with various disciplines researching IPE. Prior to relocating, he had spent over 20 years at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine where he was the director of the Office of Medical Education. He was also their assistant dean for medical education. Additionally, he has been the executive director of the Alliance for Clinical Education since 1997. In this role, he has helped publish three editions of the Guidebook for Clerkship Directors as well as edited Mind the Gap.

Background: The Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice (OIPEP) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill established a Student Executive Committee (SEC) to engage students in interprofessional activities. The SEC is comprised of students from the health professional schools (Allied Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Social Work), the Schools of Education, Business, and the Health Sciences Library.
