Carolyn Szafran, LSCSW
Carolyn Szafran earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and minor in secondary education from Washburn University; Masters of Science with emphasis in special education from Kansas State University; Masters of Social Work specializing in school social work from the University of Kansas. Carolyn is a LSCSW with an active clinical practice. She is Director of the Practicum program and teaches full time in the Social Work Department at Washburn. Carolyn is a Certified Clinical Trauma and Compassion Fatigue Professional. She educates and supports trauma therapists to acknowledge and address secondary stress conditions and self-care relating to professional ethical standards.

Interprofessional education is foundational to creating a health care team prepared to improve patient outcomes, however, patients and families are often absent from the educational setting.
