Allison Shorten is a Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Nursing, and Director of the Office of Interprofessional Curriculum within the UAB Center of Interprofessional Education and Simulation. Dr. Shorten leads design and implementation of university-wide interprofessional education (IPE) programs with the aim of ultimately improving patient outcomes. Dr. Shorten’s leadership is underpinned by extensive experience as an innovative educator and researcher in nursing and healthcare over more than two decades. She has extensive experience in design and delivery of professional development programs, eLearning products, faculty training promoting IP teamwork in healthcare, and evaluation of IPE

As our interprofessional education (IPE) has expanded over time, strategic growth of new programs has become necessary.
