Theme: Aligning Education and Practice for Workforce Transformation and Health System Change

Workshop Description:
This workshop is targeted toward practitioners and clinical faculty. Participants will be introduced to the Interprofessional Professionalism (IPP) Tool Kit and the Interprofessional Professionalism Assessment (IPA).

Throughout this interactive workshop, participants will be engaged in small groups to learn about and evaluate IPP behaviors by applying the IPA across six domains of professionalism behaviors (Communication, Respect, Altruism/Caring, Excellence, Ethics, and Accountability). Additionally, participants will assess the IPP behaviors and ratings of health professionals functioning on collaborative teams as applied to several case vignettes (i.e., video, narrative). A facilitated plenary discussion of participants’ observations in using the IPA in two different situations will follow. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to offer feedback about the workshop experience, reflect on their learning, and provide suggestions for further enhancements to the IPP Tool Kit as applied to practice.

Learner Outcomes:
1) Define “interprofessional professionalism”.
2) Evaluate professionalism behaviors using interprofessional case scenarios applying the Interprofessional Professionalism Assessment (IPA) instrument.
3) Strategize ways to incorporate the IPA instrument and IPP tool kit when evaluating learners in various clinical environments.
